No I have not read the book.

My grandparents lived in a sod hut also, but her first baby died in the winter and she build a house in the spring. They proceeded over the next 22 years to have 11 children. <g> Our farm in 8 miles west of the Red River between Grand Forks and Fargo. During the early 40s the soil conservation organization build drainage systems and shelter belts so today land erosion is not a problem. This land has delivered a crop every year since 1894.
