Hi Cobalt,

Palmer dissociated himself from SR somewhere is early '99. He was described at the time as a mercurial visionary. Or, as the company would have told investors, a crackpot. I believe he is still somehow/somewhat associated with UCSD, though I don't have the confirmation information at my fingertips.

Theoretical mathematicians and physicists do not usually invent money making devices, do they?
Yes, true enough. Sir Isaac Newton lost a considerable fortune in the South Seas Bubble of the 1720, but he was certainly nowhere near the creative genius that John Law was in creating the Mississippi Bubble occurring at the same time in France. For Law, a Scotsman, the only impediment to his complete success as the Finance Minister of France was an utter misunderstanding about the role of panics in destroying paper currencies. Pity that. From rags to riches to rags.

Bon Chance, Ray
