Re your stated preference for disorganized belief systems (religious, political or whatever) that stress the personal, would you consider reverting to a pre-industrial life? No electricity, no phones, no air travel, no internet.

Few (none?) of the conveniences we rely on and enjoy sprang from disorganized societies. Lots of "cowboys" in Silicon Valley but they build on some really organized ****.

IMO, of course.

Steven,
Anyone that cannot read well enough to understand the simple precepts of the New Testament, have more of a problem than I can handle. I have never seen more simple words in my life, which has been longer than most on any of these threads. I agree with your comment about too many people willing to offer interpretations to suit their own ends. That is the main reason I was away from Christianity for so many years, until I learned that a relationship with God does not need a middle man.

The believers that I associate with are not organized in the same sense as denominational sects of any religion. We are individuals that think for ourselves, and gather together for fellowship only, because we believe in the same independent way of worship. Those groups of people that have turned aggressive in deed, are not really Christians, nor do they follow the teachings of Jesus. They are zealots that are not supported, or condoned, by people that believe the same way I do. Regardless of what those people may say, they are not acting in a Christian manner. It is true, that I can become aggressive, but it is by words only. I would not do physical harm to another human being unless that person was threatening my family, or friends with physical harm. Then I would do whatever necessary to stop that person from succeeding. ~H~
