John, the finds in the Caspian Sea are not 'recent'. the exploitation thereof has been stepped up...but they buy us very little time. unfortunately the geological formations that are conducive to holding large oil reserves being very well known, the promising areas of the globe have indeed been scoured with everything modern technology has to offer exploration. no new giant fields, period.

i agree a big price increase is absolutely necessary to lengthen the life of global supplies.
