You be the judge:

Alcatel ($61.5B) /Thomson's Media ($15.5B) eyes US market for MPEG network products, multimedia head-ends and
HFC solutions for cable TV networks.

"After voice and data, I am convinced that video will follow the Internet way" declared Serge Tchuruk. "With the creation of
this new company, Alcatel and THOMSON multimedia are positioning themselves as a strong player in this nascent market.
While the activities will be centered initially in Europe, I have no doubt that the US market can be within reach by a
combination of organic and external growth as Alcatel has done in other domains."

Hmmm....US market within reach by external growth? $77 billion vs. $2.3 billion with best suite of products... I wonder who
Alcatel/Thompsons will buy to gain access to the U.S. market?????
