Lee - some of us are smart like pooh - others of us, like me, struggled through it for days and weeks and reinstall and kick the dog and try it over and over again until a combination works - you'll get it - or a gemmer will stop in the next time they are in your town - Connor26

Lee: Did your new computer come with Windows 98 or Windows 2000. I'm still running 98 but alot of people have said that WIN2000 is more stable.

OT.

Lee, the "set idle time before disconnecting" feature will not work if set within the Microsoft Explorer or from the dial up network icon. It has to be set through the Microsoft internet access program. No idea why.

I had this problem before, and this is what MSN answered me:

Dear MSN Member,

Thank you for writing to MSN Member Support about your connectivity issue. We at MSN Internet Access apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced.

One possible reason for this constant disconnection is that the Auto-disconnect feature may have been enabled on your computer.

To adjust the Auto-Disconnect feature, follow these steps:

1. Disconnect from MSN.
2. Using the right mouse button, click the MSN icon located on your desktop.
3. Select Connection Settings.
4. Choose the Options tab.
5. Adjust the number of minutes in the "Disconnect if idle for more than __ minutes" option.
6. Click OK.

NOTE: To bypass the Auto-Disconnect feature entirely, remove the check mark from "Disconnect if idle for more than __ minutes".

The MSN Connection Help file on your computer, which can help you resolve many connection issues, lists topics such as Solving the Most Common Connection Problems and Beyond Connection Help. You can find this file by following the steps below:

1. Click on the Start button and choose Find.
2. Click on Files or Folders.
3. Under the Name & Location tab, in the box labeled "Named:" type Connection.hlp.
4. In the box labeled "Look In:" select your (C:) drive.
5. Click on Find Now.

For additional technical support issues you may reach the MSN Technical Support Center toll free at 1-877-635-7019. MSN Technical Support is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
