I've got these RAILROAD SPIKES on my computer table. Rusty. What in the world do I do with them?

Well, I'm no expert. But I've known you for a while, and railroad spikes for longer. When I put the two together, you and them, they say "bonnet."

You could array them from ear to ear.

A crest sort of thing. You would need something to hold them. I think ~ have you seen those ear muff puffs that are held together by a wide band of stainless steel? They usually have red furballs that go over your ears? (Maybe you could dye them brown to match.)

You could drill five to seven holes through the band and then into the heads of the spikes and thread them on. Or you could buy two pair of muffs and screw them togtether at their ends and make a ring that goes all the way round your head. Under your chin; not Statue Of Liberty style.

Then garden; or meet the neighbors.

You could wire brush them up and make a super coat rack for the mudroom or entry. Yah!

Table centerpieces, light fixtures, garden ornaments, bracelets, automotive decorations, automotive chariot wheel defenders, curb feelers, etc ~ I guarantee if you recycle or chuck em you'll need them back ~ fast.

Always remember, Rust can be stored OUTSIDE!

Yippeee! While the plot thickens, and the mind melds!

You need a special place for these things, from which you can make otber things; with screws and bolts and epoxy.

I'm thinking of using their heads and two of those spike-holding plates for large door hinges to my shop door. Sort of medieval looking. "Secure." It's all about decoration, remember. Appearance. Things don't have to be "real."

I think if I saw your place, I could think of something before my first glass of wine was gone. Peel open your peepers, man. Joie de vie!

<<I've read about sticking a nail in an apple, and eating the apple the next day as an iron supplement (remove nail).>>

Also a great way to get tetanus.
