Just based on personal experience, I believe the posting activity has declined on SI because it's moved to free sites. As more and more investors join Yahoo, RagingBull, Stockhouse, etc..., quite natually, posting activity will increase. As SI members see more active boards elsewhere, they'll gravitate towards them. And of course private sites have drawn people away too.

I post on RB now, not because I want to, but because that's where other people are posting. Given a choice, I'd prefer to never have to venture there. Although the RB admins are removing spam as it's reported, it's reaching epidemic proportions. There was even XXX site spam there last week.

Bottom line, I think the issue is competition, and nothing else. My friends who used to be active posters here and now post primarily on RB are there because of the bigger audience, not because they were upset with SI for any reason.
