There is no loose association between irrational acts fomented by irrational sects (and ALL religions are sects, no matter how long they have been around, their traditions, or their theology) that as a whole tend to destroy human progress, or rational and objective actions motivated by self-interest and the desire to acquire usable knowledge with which to further the advancement of humankind in this universe.
