David,

If you are doing some serious statistical analysis, I
would greatly encourage you to read the interview of
William Eckhardt in Jack Schwager's "The New Market Wizards"

Eckhardt has done some excellent research on all
types of statistical approaches and has lots of advice
for people putting together trading systems.

Eckhardt was the partner of Richard Dennis and the
famous "turtles" , came about as a result of a bet
that the two men made.

Dennis believed that people could be taught how to
trade very profitably. Eckhardt did not.

They had a group of students, (I believe 20) who
were instructed how to trade and did fabulously well, do
to what they learned. Money/Risk Management ended up being
a key to their success.

Dennis won the bet incidentally. :)

John
