OT: SQL stuff

Thanks for the analyis and your perspective. It'll be interesting to see how things emerge in the database world. I haven't seen non-SQL systems becoming less attractive, though I don't doubt your perspective is larger than mine. If a company stores their catalog data, and wants to select specific results, are non-SQL systems as easy to obtain such results? With SOAP/CORBA/etc. it seems attractive to query the database with a SQL query, and have the database return the results in XML which can then be parsed, displayed, or returned as raw XML from SOAP methods. Can the examples you mention work better/faster for web applications?. Thanks a lot,

David
