Mani, >twillowy re <<I find it amazing that the street did not award Intel better today for the extra $1.322B added to their cash position >>

That "cash" did not come out of no where. Intel has had it for a long time, it just used to be in an equity form. The market has known about this,

Come on man, I mean Mani, I didn't know that Intel's VC fund was doing that well, and I read a lot about my investments. The average "street" probably still thinks Andy is CEO.

Cheers,

Tony

Re: That "cash" did not come out of no where. Intel has had it for a long time, it just used to be in an equity form. The market has known about this, it is just the timing of selling that equity is what the news was about.

Actually I recall something opposite: when Nasdaq came down to almost 3000 and INTC went to $106 (May 10, 2000), one of the paranoid rumors was that Intel's VC is probably going to do badly.
I have no idea how can one "know" what is Intel's quarterly capital gain until they realize it and tell you, as they just did. After all, they choose and pick what they are going to sell this Q, how can you know up-front? Unless you work for Intel's VC! Do you?
BTW it was a paper not a "cash" until they turned it into the cash and I am happy they did. Just MHO.
