Re: Does anyone have any thoughts about possible implications for Windows 2000/64 on Sledgehammer?

Pravin,

As a web developer, I don't understand why anyone would want to have a Windows based server. The sites we do are usually upgrades to existing sites. Most of the old sites are Windows based. The way I look at it, a company wants to go on the web and picks a Windows server because they are so cheap. Then, they start to rely on the web business and realize that Windows is not a good solution. When they upgrade, they don't make the mistake of picking Windows twice.

The current site I'm working on is a perfect example of this. They had a goal of $1,000,000 in web business for year 2000. As of last week, they had already done $7,000,000 in business and it is growing rapidly. They also found out something interesting, they save about $30 in overhead with each transaction. They decided they need a better site, so they went with the rock solid AS/400 to get the job done.

I hope that Sledgehammer never sees Win 2K/64. Sledgehammer really needs a good linux OS in my opinion.
