Short Interest on Big Board
Rises 1.8%, Hits a Record

NEW YORK -- Short-selling activity on the Big Board hit another record, with bearish sentiment increasing as the stock market rebounded off recent lows.

The level of short sales not yet closed out, known as short interest, rose 1.8% to 4,307,073,315 on June 12 from 4,230,158,359 shares on May 15.
