I agree...even OPEC cooperated today, raising oil production even higher.

re: stupidity of raising rates.

I agree that its kind of insane, but the pro-increase argument goes like this:

1. Oil is up and likely higher - will fuel inflation further.

2. Fed will have its hands tied in election period. June is last chance.

3. 0.25 is a small move anyway - not likely to affect the real economy much. Also likely to keep the stock market from going ballistic which leads to wealth inflation.

4. Well we did 0.5 last time. We can't stop with such a big move. Folks will feel better after a last gradual move.
