John

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Can you focus on a task for hours on end? Or do you loose concentration after a few minutes? Or something in between...

Knowing your personality helps with getting over the hump on the blow up hole elimination.

John:

If you tend to repeat your triples and doubles each time
you play, it could be course management that is causing
the problem.

For example, at my club there is a long par 5, with OB
left, water right, a narrow fairway, and a creek that
crosses that fairway. It is the home of many double digit
scores. Each year the sectional US Open qualifier is
held at my club, and there are always several scores
above 9.

My mental approach, and strategy on the tee is to play
the hole as the "World's Easiest Par 6.". A 3 wood
tee shot, a medium iron lay up short of the creek,
another medium iron, in the fairway, and a short iron
to the green. I'm left with 1 putt for par, 2 for bogie.

Par wins the hole 80 of 100 times. Bogie only loses 20
of 100 times.

Analyze you score card, and try to outsmart the trouble
holes.

Good luck. I'm off to play this morning. Go away rain!!!

John,

I am not your man, but others here can help. On some days people ask when I am going to be on the tour and other days people ask how I am enjoying my first round...of my life! lol.

I do have a number of books I can suggest that offer sound advice for management of the course. Just playing smart has saved me a lot of strokes. Let me know if you are interested and I will post them here.

Good Luck
