Gary, I think you must have mis-read the details.
If you have 1000 share at $140/share, your total value is $140,000. A 20 for 1 forward split would give you 20,000 shares, but the price per share would drop to $7, not stay at $140, so your total value would still be $140,000.
No particular tax consequence would occur.
(If it was a 1 for 20 reverse split, you'd then have only 50 shares, at $2800/share, still worth $140,000.)
