John- Thanks for your comments.

"Does CDMA lose from a thousand tiny cuts, as they lose seemingly minor battles repeatedly? Combine the SBC and Verizon conversions with a few others and you have a problem."

I'm not sure if there is a typo up there, or I may be reading it wrong, but Verizon is a CDMA network. Second largest in North America. Why would this cause CDMA a problem.....whoops. Now I see what you are saying. As Gilder Radner used to say, "Nevermind."

"My belief is that ATT/TDMA is not the issue. GSM is more of a threat to CDMA."

Isn't it one in the same in terms migration to 2.5G or 3G? I mean ATT wouldn't be putting their neck out if they didn't believe migration to world-wide compatible GSM-data networks will be imminent. My understanding is that it's a hop, skip, and a jump away between TDMA and GSM purpose built data networks. Is this your understanding too?

"Was it posted here that QCOM is preparing a GSM-compliant version of HDR?"

If it was posted here, I missed it. Now that is incredibly interesting news. If you find the source please link us. I would very much like to read that PR. I can't imagine QCOM making that public. Thanks. -MikeM(From Florida)
