We may be expecting too much from CNBC. Like the nightly news and newspapers will gear their news presentations to the lowest common denominator, I don't suppose we can hope for much more than "fun and simple" about markets. We need to keep Barbie and GI Joe informed, and plastic can't handle an information overload.

The on-air folks at CNBC who know something about the markets must be frustrated too. The clueless ones probably think they are saying something important.

You mentioned commodity markets. What's that? ( Seems to me I remember hearing about those on the old FNN, and maybe in the early years of CNBC.) CNBC does have something on its ticker, and every hour they flash - quickly and silently- a few boards on commodities, but otherwise they seem to be an unknown "commodity" to CNBC>
