What does it take to get a short squeeze going? Are shorts defending their position by shorting more? difficult questions...does not have the volume yet to indicate a real squeeze imo. if this is longs loading up, the squeeze will be that much more violent. the squeeze could erupt spontaneously or be sparked by an event, news release etc. believe me, all the fund managers who own this stock are well aware of the short position. there are hedge funds that may force a squeeze, if they perceive the risk in owning gstrf is diminishing.
