I don't have hard numbers, but one thing you have to realize is that they have had massive problems of turnover. In addition to the industry-standard problems, they have real problems in development management, which leads good people to get the hell out ASAP. Corel pays below market salaries, and are generally seen as the local 'junior league'. Add in Cowpland's penchant for arbitrary dismissal, and you have the whole picture. The guys who did CorelDraw are long gone. In general, the image bandied about is highly talented experienced programmers heading for the exits. The ugly reality is that even the 2 year guys with a Programming diploma from ITI and an English degree from Carleton U have headed for the exits. There is no current danger of losing software architects or the like - there really aren't many to begin with.

I actually posted about this a few years ago, when the survival of the company was not in question.
