VRTY.. Its true VRTY is a hugely volatile stock but capable for some really strong swing trades. We've traded it on "anticipatory upswing" a few quarters and it had jumped up to 10 points in 1-2 sessions.

It had its anticipation the beginning of the month with 4 very strong days and then VRTY settled into a upward trading channel.. Unfortunately just today and "after' earnings the bottom dropped out after a small gap up.

A lesson which I learned also the hard way is not to do anything more than 'window shop' for the first 20-30 minutes of trading because the stocks often change course. After 20-30 minutes of trading usually a 'mini trend' for at least the first hour or hour and a half of trading settles in. This equates to the very first buy triggers at about 9:50 to 10:00. Sometimes I 'watch' carefully but I won't buy. This rule of thumb is even more important since March, when the bottom dropped out of the "New Economy" stocks.

Caution is the watch word and "stop losses" are imperative. If I held VRTY for that loss, I would probably hold it for a possible dead cat bounce the next session or two. Holding it for a long period of time and becoming an 'investor' in VRTY, I wouldn't. The most I'd hold it is through July and see if earnings from other peer group stocks will have an effect on VRTY. After July, I expect profit taking for the entire technology sector and I wouldn't be a holder of VRTY after July.

I never hold stocks After the April Quarter and the July quarter.. October and January Quarters are usually better for the long term than the April and July quarters.
