I still think Zeev is really underestimating the value of the DDR patent for Rambus. DDR is the next generation memory, not RDRAM, and Rambus is charging higher royalties on DDR. The market for memory is big, but the market for all the things they go into is bigger.

Eventually, the memory makers will produce their own "clean room" (Intel's words) technology, but that will be five years off, and who's to say that Rambus won't have a patent that controls that?

The real thing for longs to worry about is that a chip maker will go belly up and turn itself into an IP company. Then the pie would have to be split more ways. Until that sort of news, a guy would have to be nuts to be short RMBS below $200 per share.
