I wished I saved Micron's reply to me.
I asked them about three weeks ago when I could buy a RDRAM equipped PC. Their answer [big surprise] essentially was not before the cost/performance became competitive.

I wonder if MU has ability to produce RDRAM? They must, right?

Adding on to the MU cc comments, I just saw Dan Niles on Digital Jam about a half hour ago. When asked about RMBS, he was clearly indifferent and condescending. I'm paraphrasing here, but he said stuff like:

-Compared RMBS to internet stocks. "They issue a press release, and the stock soars". Clearly the implication is that there is no reason for the move up.

-Quoted the MU cc where they said they see no significant demand for Rambus. RMBS has yet to prove itself.

-Said something like "it's one thing to sign up the small players like Toshiba and Hitachi", but the big players like Micron and (1 or 2 others) have yet to sign. Then he said something that implied that they believe they'll never pay RMBS royalties for anything.

I took it as a minimization of both recent RMBS developments (Toshiba & Hitachi) as well as RMBS' potential. This guy clearly doesn't think much of RMBS as a company or a stock.

-John

Believe I would rather have Micron producing SDRAM as we will get higher royalties! <g> Congratulations to all our lurker longs as well, whose numbers I believe to be substantial. tim
