How do I best make use of and act fast enough with the Watch Lists and the trigger announcements?

What things should I do when I first get the next day's WL to best prepare for using the WL during the market hours? For example do users identify their entry, exit and objectives for each stock before the market opens and then monitor and act on these plans during the day?

Once the market day is underway what must I do or look for so that I use the WL information most effectively? Do most users act ahead of and in anticipation of the calls constantly looking for opportunities in the WL before the calls are posted? And what are the most important things that one might look for? Remember I'm new here and so I don?t see these tigger events most of the time. I hope to over come that as soon as possible. I'm much more dependent on calls and learning from them than my ability to see them coming (and to do it fast enough!). I must admit that even analyzing at the end of the day I'm not sure what besides a sudden price change are the key indicators that might make one consider a trigger.

Some of this gets to acting fast. I'm guessing some answers I might get will help me be better prepared in advance to make quick decisions (to have done more of my thinking before the market opens.) It's sometimes seems pretty amazing to me that when some calls are posted and I check them out right away and they already have had sizeable appreciation and I'm not all that confident that the stock will continue to go further from that point. Of course it seems like if I chicken out that the stock will of course sky rocket from that point later. And if I do get into the stock then it seems that the one I picked doesn't perform a brilliant takeoff and it may even appear that I got the high of the moment as it falls back a bit (impatience on my part probably). (My results tell me that I really don't do as badly as it sometimes feels.)

Thanks for any help!
- David

ps - why when I cut and paste from word into here do I see my apostrophes turning into question marks?

When a trigger is called & posted what exactly does it mean and what actions should one take at that time?

- A signal to buy ASAP
- A signal to buy anytime from that point forward but wait for weakness in price if it?s already taking off or for those stocks that haven?t rocketed yet - wait for movement (set a buy stop) so you get in once they start to move.
- A signal that one should have already seen the movement, noticed the impending trigger on their own and gotten into the stock *before* the announcement (the announcement just confirms it or lets others know that may have missed it on their own.)
- Or possibly something else that I?m missing?

Are all the WL stocks identifying only potential long opportunities, or long and short?

Thanks!

How do I best make use of the earnings plays that are in the customized calendar?

Is it the idea that entries on the earnings play calendar are mostly:

- Opportunities for appreciation between when they are added to the calendar up to just before the earnings date?
- Or that there?s just a higher chance for some sort of positive/negative movement than for others and to be on the look out for movement?
- Or are the listings in the calendar mainly a ?heads up? on what may eventually be called out in a future Watch List between then and the earnings date? (ie act early if you want to but will be listed in the Watch List and/or called out on the SI thread.)

When should one make use of and act on the information in the earnings calendar? As soon as something is added to the calendar? What kind of action should one take when a new stock is added to the calendar? (Again ? it the calendar just a heads up and one should look for a call in a WL or on the SI thread to take action or is the idea that you take action as soon as it?s been added to the calendar?)

Thanks so much for any help, pointers and information you can provide!
