Re: The NEC 288Mb RDRAM chips.

Just wanted to reiterate what Tate/Harmon said at the annual meeting. The amount of silicon required for the RDRAM interface is constant, while the amount of silicon required for the memory itself obviously doubles when you go from 128M to 256M. Thus, the additional space for adding the RDRAM interface shrinks as a % of the total chip size, so the incremental cost is decreased. If I remember correctly, they were talking about late this year or early next year for real production on the 256/288Mb chips (anyone remember differently?).
