Why is it that Texas seems to be the execution capital of the US?

Because when Texans look around them every day, what do they see?

Other Texans. Makes them place a lower value on life forms ; )

In seriousness, I used to have no problem with the death penalty but I have changed my mind. Illinois' governor gained a lot of respect with me (and others) when he suspended executions and essentially admitted that the justice system is too flawed to permit executions to be carried out. He was quoted this week as saying that he had difficulty seeing how executions could ever be resumed within the context of the current system.

This coming from a Republican, and with little or no public outcry.

JMHO, not trying to start a political argument or anything and won't write further on the topic, even if Gloop provokes me ....
