I don't believe it is because we are lazy or stupid, we still see sgi as a good buy at this price and only want to convert this gift back into sgi stock to lower our original cost. Seems anyone as smart as you think you are could figure that one out.

You are right. I am lazy. I think I have an idea what SGI is worth, and it is more than the current price, so I hold. On the other hand, SGI management has given me this MIPSB stock whose real value I don't know, and don't want to do the work to find out. So, I am converting it to cash.

You had a pretty good post up until this line:
"I guess they are either too lazy or too stupid to do the DD and work out that SGI has given them a gift."
I did buy more SGI to get the MIPS, but lots of different strategies, not all of which match yours.
