Has anyone noticed how few licensees there are for Globalstar? None for infrastructure, a couple for handsets and none for ASICs [I suppose]. Q! has got a huge monopoly position in Globalstar ASICs, royalties, gateways and satellite gizzards while having about 10% shareholding [when the recently issued warrants come in - if I got my sums right]. Not to mention the best handsets - one of only three suppliers though Hyundai has the right to become a handset maker [I think that's still true].

While swarms of subscriber licensee companies scrabble on the ground for market share, the big stuff is already aloft overhead and Q! has got it tightly held. Now, with fast data coming available next year, we won't have to wait until Constellation2 for 384kbps. This is getting really exciting.

Don't forget the just announced WWeb access being arranged for aircraft.

Also, with the 3Way plan among Nokia/Telson/Q! there should be less worry about "Nokia and other W-CDMA companies don't need Q! technology".

PS: To all and in support of Caxton: Junk posters to this stream [including some regulars from time to time] should be aware that it is not just Ramsey Su who gets annoyed - it's a lot of others too. There are other specially designated places for 'Your feet stink' type posts as well as answering those posts. You might have noticed the admirable restraint I showed when Ajay came over all bitter and twisted. Recalcitrants should expect to be PM mail-bombed with invective and requests for SI to terminate you. First time offenders will escape with only 7 strokes of the rattan.
