Scumbria, Rambus is getting paid for other people's ideas and hard work. No, other people were/are using Rambus's ideas and not paying Rambus for them. The fact that Hitachi settled so quickly (the ITC hadn't scheduled their investigation to be completed for another year) indicates that they believe they have little to no case at all. Clearly they couldn't find any prior art to exhibit. And whether you agree or not, so far Toshiba and Hitachi have agreed to specific royalty rates after negotiations over the patents. You may disagree with the level, but it's not your call. In fact, if you'd like, I'll start arguing that the rates should be even higher, then we can eventually compromise on the rates that the companies settled on. <G> Dave
