Very good point about chart time frame and what is being traded. Would imagine follows with volume to a great degree. More volume per bar, more reliable the bars signal.

Most of what I am trading now are NYSE stocks. Medium volume and a little slow. When I tried using 5 and 3 min charts for patterns my trading took a nose dive.

Also value may come into play. As for the SPOO's (huge volume, big value) I would have to use a 3min. or less for entry and stops. The 15min patterns would place my stops way too far away for me. The same comparison may also be true between say DELL and LSI. I would think with DELL you could use shorter charts.
