TXN - Just the kind of stock I like to position trade. I have a hefty long position that is up over 100% since last fall. I know the stock and its potential. It is down over 12 points on news of two mergers in two days. They have already pre-announced beating 2Q earnings by a significant amount. At $75 it's a buy I don't care getting "stuck" with if it continues to fall. It is the absolute leader in digital signal processors (DSP's). As we move into wireless handhelds, PDA's, etc. TXN will do very well.

I know you all are interested in Opticals, so I'm posting this.
This was on todays BKHM thread, but I'm sure it's not new.
However, the information is still pertinent.

From Briefing.com
Bookham Technology plc (BKHM) 59 +5/8: If Bookham Technology plc (BKHM) were based in the Silicon Valley, the company would probably sport a market-cap 2-3 times its current level... The UK-based designer of optical components for use in fiber-optic telecommunications networks has traded in relative obscurity since its initial public offering two months ago. While stock has lagged the group, recent pick-up in volume suggests that the word is beginning to trickle out on Bookham... Issue possesses "attractive" fundamentals relative to recent fiber space deals to hit the market. This in no way implies that the stock is cheap. In fact, with a P/S ratio of 576x trailing sales, the valuation seems absurd; that is until you compare it with the multiples being awarded other companies in the space. For example, optical networking equipment company, ONI Systems (ONIS), currently sports a P/S of 2790x trailing TTM. And, while ONIS will turn in quarterly losses for the foreseeable future, BKHM is predicted to deliver its first profitable qtr next year... A major reason stock has failed to pop up on many radar screens is its relatively large initial float. The company came public with 19.4 mln shares, vs just 8 mln for ONI Systems. The smaller the float, the easier it is for traders to run the stock... While traders may view a large float as a hindrance, the increased liquidity provided by the increased number of shares is considered a positive by institutional investors... The liquidity will come in handy later this month when institutional investors are forced to purchase the issue based on its scheduled addition to the FTSE 100 Index... Damon Southward, Briefing.com

Rande, wild day. i went shopping today. added q at 67. q is cheap and people should consider buying the company. Nokia rumor does make some sense. (i rather hold q shares as a shareholder).

anyway, not adding too many isld. bought few shares in the low 43's hoping to sell em in the high 40s and low 50s.

got rid most of my mrv. i'll buy the gem back lower.

good luck all.

i for some unknown reason see a rally the last 15 minutos.

Nice going, Rande.

when spanking KOOP, I had also the gut feelings that not all is ok... after it zoomed some 80% on heavy volume and retraced a bit so it was the question whether to keep or to dump...

...after the market close, news about a lame 1.5MM bridge financing deal came out. Stock tanked to low 2s soon afterwards...and the proppers simply walked away dumping shares on what some Islanders had left over on the bid side. Long time I haven't seen such a no-show aftermarket.
