It seems MLRE now has the FBI involved. I bet that was not intentional. I have my opinion about this "incident" but I will save that for a little later. From the Hilton Head Island Packett: BLUFTON--The FBI and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office are investigating a computer crime that may have left the Bluffton based Millionaire Magazine's next issue erased. Employees at the upscale magazine may be suspects, said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Midge Scott. Scott said initial reports pegged the amount of damages sustained Thursday at $500,000, but she would neither confirm nor deny if that figure still stands. Frank Osborne, the magazine's vice president and general manager, said Friday he wouldn't confirm or deny that files containing the September issue of the monthly publication were destroyed in the incident. He did say the magazine will go to print as planned. "I will say this, the magazine will go out in July, August and September,"he said. Both Scott and Robert L. "Rusty" White, chairman of Millionaire magazine's board of directors, said the FBI is inolved in the investigation because the crime involves computers. Agent Dave Calore of the FBI's Beaufort office said Friday morning his office is "just starting" to nvestigate the incident and declined to comment on the nature of that investigation or why the bureau would be involved. "Further investigation will determine what amount of damage, if any, was done,"Scott said. White wouldn't say whether the actual computer equiptment or files were damaged or whether employees were involved. "we've had some computer loss."he said. "But it's omething I can't discuss until the FBI has completed its investigation."
