--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Istanbul - Turkish Daily News

Smuggled goods consisting of 15.4 kilograms of gold and two kilograms of artificial stones to be used in jewellery production were seized at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport yesterday, according to the Anatolia news agency.

Teams from Ataturk Airport's Customs Office suspected two individuals arriving in Istanbul from Dusseldorf on a Turkish Airlines (THY) flight and searched their suitcases.

The 15.4 kilograms of gold, 8.9 kilograms of which was in block form and 6.5 kilograms of which was scrap, as well as 2 kilograms of artificial stones, were found in the luggage of Turkish citizen Albert Kucukbalik and his nephew Cem Kucukbalik, who is a jeweler in Istanbul.

Albert and Cem Kucukbalik were taken into custody.
