In my last post I visualized that chiseled on Lev's tombstone would be the couplet: "So I lied. So sue me." Then, I go to Mexico and miss all the excitement. Mirabile dictu, a major surge occurs. We've got a lot of wiseguys (in the best sense) operating on this thread, but no one seems to have the answer for what appears to have been a significant event. As for me, I agree with the RB post that someone or some entity has really plunged on VLNC. It certainly surprised me; as those with long memories will recall, I also stated that I thought Lev and his board would be happy to see the stock go to single digits to make their purchases (and mine for that matter) that much more satisfying. Am I happy? Yes and no.
Earlier this week I listened to Edgar Bronfman respond to some very difficult questions regarding the sale of a company his family had run for many years. When it was implied that he was somehow a traitor for selling out, Bronfman responded that his father was consumed by the importance of increasing shareholder value. Bronfman admitted that he was consumed by the same issue and the sale was the best thing that he could do for shareholders. It was a nice touch (although he had been shopping Seagrams for some time), and I couldn't help but compare his action to the public utterances of the Sergeant Shultzes who run VLNC ("I know nothing, nothing").

I took off of Thursday for a 3 day dive trip and arrived back to see 100+ posts on the VLNC board and a price significantly higher than it was on Wednesday. Markie is bleating on as usual with "no news..no news" as if that means something, but while I have no evidence my WAG is that we will see a substantial PO within a week or so. In my experience in technical sales of this type, what always happens is that samples are provided to an OEM under strict secrecy provisions. We know such samples have ben provided by Valence. The company has to sit pat and issue "no news" until they get confirmation from the OEM that he intends to go ahead and use the product and what volume he intends to order.
However you can be assured that a lot of people associated with the OEM know that a decision has been reached and that an announcement is just around the corner. It may, or may not be, insider buying but it probably originates from the OEM customers side not from Valence. Valence may have a suspicion that things are going well but have no paper yet that allows them to make the announcement.

That's just the way the game is played and the recent price action fits....
