Lee - have you thought of getting a trading partner who is more of a technical person? There's really too much for one person to monitor during the day anyway. I've always thought that if a couple of people pooled their funds and shared the profits, then they could do better than one person alone. One person could enter the trades, while the other monitors the charts.

[Edit - I mean a human partner!]

Lee it's worth having someone come into your house and check it out. Usually in the want ad section you'll find techies and they needn't be expensive. Anyway use the money you got from that ballsy AMZN short. It's the 'easiest' way to deal with the problem. Spend the cash...be happy! niv

OT ~ Lee, wish any of us could be more help. ;(

My approach to computers carries over from airplanes: if you have two or more of each instrument, chances are 'one' will work when you need it.

I'd suggest loading BOTH I-Explorer AND Netscape ver. 4.73. YES, you can; ignore all pop-up windows that say the sky will fall. Then download two or three OTHER internet service providers, and try different combinations. Also DO download ZDNet's free NetMonitor utility, as someone already suggested, to check how many bits per second your connection is providing you, and how many hops it takes to get to your machine.

You'll develop a feel quickly. All are not equal. It's probably not your computers failing. My favorite one is seven years old! I still run a DOS application. Try that on your Win98 wonder. Good Luck!
