cnn.com Federal appeals court rules against Elian's Miami relatives In a severe setback for the Miami relatives of Elian Gonzalez, the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Friday not to reconsider an earlier decision that the 6-year-old Cuban castaway may not seek political asylum in the United States. The Atlanta court's ruling is a victory for the boy's father, Juan Miguel Gonzalez, who has been living in the United States for two months, hoping to return to Cuba with Elian.
