Hello Jules,

<< Concerns about WCOM/Sprint merger regulators although to me it should be a good thing rather than bad >>

I am joining this party late. Just discovered this thread and am catching up a bit although I have been watching VOD closely for the last year (long time BAM customer and of course now Verizon).

Now that things look very doubtful for the WCOM/Sprint merger I'm wondering who you think Bernie is most likely to go after, Nextel or VoiceStream.

I think you and I conjectured over this back on the OMPT thread many moons when it appeared possible that Bernie would possibly move on Nextel or OMPT (and perhaps the then Voicestram net of Western Wireless).

My fuzzy recall was that you thought Nextel the likely target. I was thinking OMPT & Voicestream.

Either way, OMPT was a 10 bagger for me last year. Reentered on 1/599. Also did some VSTR missing the IPO but getting in the day the merger was announced. I exited both 12/31 and WCOM the day the FON merger was announced.

Anyway, I'd appreciate your thoughts on WCOM's next move.

Glad to find this thread. I am a Chris Gent fan.

Hi Jules, when a stock goes through a prolonged sideways/ down period, I'm grateful as it permits establishing a decent position on the setbacks. I did this with Qualcomm for two years [though I must admit at the end of the 2nd year it was getting very discouraging]. IMO, you are absolutely correct that the market's current psychology is "looking for reasons to sell rather than buy". I wonder if you would expand on one of the other reasons on your list, that being the failed WCOM/Sprint merger. Why in the world should that affect VOD negatively? Is it that folks think the whole regulatory world will now stop VOD from further acquisitions? What am I missing? Today's drop seems inexplicable EXCEPT as a sharp, knee jerk reaction to the WCOM news. best, mike doyle
