Get your investors package from Jason->SEC suspends trade in Wamex, EPawn through June 27

WASHINGTON, June 14 (Reuters) - The Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday said it suspended trading in Wamex Holdings Inc. <WAMX.OB> and ePawn.com Inc. <EPWN.OB> through June 27, citing questions about their publicly distributed information.

There was no immediate comment from the companies, which trade on the Bulletin Board.

New York-based Wamex, which plans to launch an alternative stock trading system on July 4, according to a recent press release, closed on Tuesday at 1-5/8. EPawn, a Coral Springs, Fla., online auction company, closed at 1-5/16.

The SEC said there were questions about Wamex's ability to comply with commission rules for its trading system, and about funds purportedly raised from private investors. And there was concern about the identity of the people in control of ePawn.

There has also been recent market activity in both companies' stocks that may be the result of manipulative conduct or other illegal activity, the SEC said.

SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION
Washington, D.C.
SECURITIES EXCHANGE ACT OF 1934
RELEASE NO. 42937 / June 14, 2000

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced the temporary suspension, pursuant to Section 12(k) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (the "Exchange Act"), of trading of the securities of WAMEX Holdings, Inc. ("WAMEX"), of New York, New York at 9:30 a.m. on June 14, 2000, and terminating at 11:59 p.m., on June 27, 2000.

The Commission temporarily suspended trading in the securities of WAMEX because of questions that have been raised about the accuracy and adequacy of publicly disseminated information concerning, among other things, WAMEX's ability to comply with the Commission's regulations regarding the operation of its Alternative Trading System and funds purportedly raised by WAMEX from private investors. In addition, recent market activity in WAMEX securities may be the result of manipulative conduct or other illegal activity.

The Commission cautions broker-dealers, shareholders, and prospective purchasers that they should carefully consider the foregoing information along with all other currently available information and any information subsequently issued by the company.

Further, brokers and dealers should be alert to the fact that, pursuant to Rule 15c2-11 under the Exchange Act, at the termination of the trading suspension, no quotation may be entered unless and until they have strictly complied with all of the provisions of the rule. If any broker or dealer has any questions as to whether or not he has complied with the rule, he should not enter any quotation but immediately contact the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. If any broker or dealer is uncertain as to what is required by Rule 15c2-11, he should refrain from entering quotations relating to WAMX's securities until such time as he has familiarized himself with the rule and is certain that all of its provisions have been met. If any broker or dealer enters any quotation which is in violation of the rule, the Commission will consider the need for prompt enforcement action.

Any broker-dealer or other person that has information which may relate to this matter should contact Robert Knuts, Senior Trial Counsel, in Northeast Regional Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission, at 212-748-8192.
