That's not what I said. Please do not re-phrase my statement. Words, after all, do have meaning behind them. Innocents being executed is certainly not a "red-herring." It is the reason for my stated position. A position that is rational, philosophically correct and ethical as well. I grant you that all what I say is true only if the system is imperfect, which it is. Given a perfect system, I would support the death penalty because there would be no possibility of any innocents being executed.
