Brees, I already knew what your position on abortion is, and I personally have no problem with it. And it is my understanding (which could be all wrong!) that most abortions occur before the end of the first trimester, anyway. But what about the official Catholic position, for example, according to which life begins with conception? And what about those who maintain that life, properly speaking, begins only when the fetus is capable of sustaining itself outside of the womb (6 or 7 months)? My point was only that there is so much disagreement over this issue that not everyone is going to accept the parallel you draw between capital punishment and abortion. Joan
