Hi Bernard, TXN certainly doesn't seem afraid to spend it's Monopoly money. I think they paid an even higher per-employee ratio for Libit. Aside from Alantro, I'm kind of surprised that "Advanced Hardware Architectures" hasn't been gobbled up yet ( aha.com

Hi Bernard,

A key thing about 802.11 in the ISM band is it has been used outdoors for Ethernet bridges and ISP services (e.g. Breezecom, Solectek, OTC Telecom). The Packet Binary Convolutional Code that Alantro developed provides 22, 11, 5.5, 2 and 1Mbps service.

The new 802.11g group will push this into a standard on an expedited basis, to compete with whatever WideBand Frequency Hop that becomes permitted by the FCC rule on Docket 99-231.

It is entirely likely that TI gets the driver's seat in ISM outdoor services with this acquisition and their involvement in V-OFDM.
