Stevie's ego is hurting because rambus is the most important memory company. Do you think Rambus will have to slap him w/ a law suit to stop their continuing unlicensed use of rambus technology???

Erik,

The more I read about the animus that seems to be in the way of good relations between Micron and Rambus and the more I hear these comments from Appleton the more I think that Rambus will ultimately have to take them to court as they did with Hitachi. I do not think that discussions of Rambus patents have progressed to the stage yet where that appears to be necessary. It's just an intuitive feeling I have. Take it for what its worth.

Of course, the pressure may get real intense after a few more capitulations - maybe Samsung and NEC?

This is going to get wild.

Aside from that, I am hoping someone will take the time this weekend to come up with some best outcome numbers now that we might consider the entire future memory market a real possibility - along with the other "stuff" like PS2 and Cisco/Brocade and SUNW royalties to come. It seems to me that Drew Peck(er) seemed to forget today that there is much more to Rambus than future DRAM royalties. He said that if Rambus DRAM royalties reached 300M by 2003, which I gathered he thought was possible, then Rambus has probably moved most of the way it's going to. Most of the upside is past, he said.

What's the latest thinking on where we are now on future pc royalties. Are they expected to be 35% or 65% of future royalties. If it's 65%, then he failed to consider another 160M annually. If it's 35% - that number is another 857M annually. Just thought I'd bring this up again.

Nice week.

Barry

<An interesting little detail is that the CEO used Semico's projected RDRAM market share to explain why RDRAM is inconsequential now and remains so for the foreseeable future. Here is the actual slide:>

I am amazed that SEMICO is still in business. They employ that idiot Sherry Gerber, who hasn't been remotely close on anything Rambus yet.

Micron will pay up. They all will.
The register article states that Micron hasn't been approached yet. They will and They'll sign.

Mark my words.
