I keep a core position which I do not touch. But with some of the stock I sell covered calls at a strike price which would make me happy anyway. If the option is exercised, I still make money, both on the option and on the strike price and thus never feel "forced" to buy them back.

RMBS is volatile enough that one often has a chance to buy back some during one of those doldrums. But never sell the core position.
