My experience with @home has been the same. I have had one outage in the last year of 5 minutes with my cable modem. It has been reasonably fast and completely reliable. Just yesterday a friend was telling me horror stories about her experience with Pacbell's DSL, in which her computer freezes continuously.

The cable/DSL battle reminds me of the old Microsoft/Apple battles in which Mac users would deny that Macs ever had any problems. Having overseen a Mac/PC lab, I can assure you the truth is far from the fantasy. The same for cable vs. DSL. The service from @home at the beginning was horrible, but in my experience that has largely been overcome.
