Interesting article in yesterday's Washington Post about Pope Pius IX. The Vatican is considering beatifying him, but the family of a Jewish boy who was kidnapped and raised as his son oppose it.

Thanks for the very interesting background on the papal position on abortion.

BTW, speaking of Garry Wills, you might like to take a look at his article ("The Vatican Regrets"), in the May 25 issue of The New York Review of Books. It's a (harsh) review of the Vatican statement "Memory and Reconciliation: The Church and the Faults of the Past."
