J.M., Excellent point. To my mind, what you illustrate is the privilege of living in a civil society makes a dual demand on each of us. First, we must participate--speak out in the community and protect expressions of difference from others. Second, in the context of that debate, we are required to utter forms of speech that preserve the community. Cycnical half-truth, outright lies, personal attacks, and smug self-serving promotion are debased forms and not free speech. Wasted intellect instead. With all good wishes, David Todtman
