"running my dial up and my DSL connection simultaneously"

i'm running a cable modem, but it's a 'one-way' cm... uses an external 56k dial-up to connect and send, but cm to receive. it's the only game available in town, and really not too shabby. downloads and web page loading are very fast. so the two connections do exist side by side. the configuration must be set by either the cm itself or the cm software installed. the external dial-up is plugged into the cm. if the cm kicks out, i'm off, no seamless auto backup condition as you are seeking. in such cases, i then use my internal 56k to dial in. it takes about 60 seconds and i'm back in biz.

don't know if any of that helps.

good luck

:)
