I don't think they're fighting a holy war as much as they're struggling for survival. Let's be blunt: High- cost low-volume suppliers of just about anything have incredible challenges once high-volume low-cost suppliers arrive. It may take time, but eventually the majority of their customers do a cost-benefit analysis and are compelled to switch. What's important to investors is not which company leads in which areas today, but which company is moving the fastest: In time, the quick will surpass the slow.

The fact is axiomatic, Microsoft is a very quick company, and no matter what the TMs post on SI, this isn't likely to change anytime soon. So, go with the winner, go with MSFT.
