Terrance, any consideration for victims? How about future victims?

>>I disagree, in a society that highly respects life the death penalty would NOT be an option unless it was a PERFECT system.

Sophistry. There are no perfect systems in the human world, not even in the computer world. Your criterion would basically do away with any system.

We do know that under your plan many more real innocents will be murdered - whether by parolees, escapees or reduced deterrence. Your system is merely less perfect and more likely to kill innocents.

>>Many I have talked to who support the death penalty admit it's not perfect and admit innocents may be executed, but in essence they say they don't care. So much for a high respect for individual human life, let alone inalienable rights.

Wrong. It's merely the best system. Unlike your system it shows the ultimate respect for life because it demands the ultimate sanction for those who takes others' lives under criminal circumstances.

And, as far as anyone can tell, there are no innocents executed. Not in recent history.
